Google Chrome:
- On your computer, open Chrome.
- At the top right, click More. Settings.
- In your browser search
- bar type: http://chrome://settings
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Advanced'
- Scroll down to the 'Downloads' section
- Toggle 'Ask where to save each file before downloading' to ON - it is set to OFF by default
Safari (Apple)
- Go to Safari > Preferences (or just press command , )
- Make sure you have the General icon (top left) selected.
- Find the File download location drop-down menu and select Other... from your list of choices.
- Navigate to and select your preferred Downloads folder location.
- Exit Preferences.
Mozilla Firefox
Click the menu button and select Options. Preferences.
In the General panel, go to the Downloads section find the Downloads section under Files and Applications.
Click the Browse button next to the Save files to entry.
Choose the downloads folder you wish to use.
Microsoft Edge
- To change your downloads folder location in Microsoft Edge
- Open Microsoft Edge
- then select Settings and more > Settings
- Select Downloads , and then, in the Location area, select Change
- In the dialog box
- select a new location for your downloaded files.
- Click the three dots dropdown in the top right corner of the browser window and select Settings
- Click 'View Advanced Settings'
- Scroll down to Downloads, and click the toggle on to 'Ask me what to do with each download'
- Exit settings
